Friday Wine Tasting 10.6.17

This Friday we’ll be pouring Mercer Estate Wines. The Mercer Family can trace its agricultural roots in the US back to the 1700s. Settling in the Washington State area, the Mercers became the founding wine growers of what is now the acclaimed Horse Heaven Hills AVA. Their love of the land is aparent in their wines, each crafted to show the delicate influence the vineyard can have on the fruit.

MERCER PINOT GRIS
The cool climate of Washington is ideal for growing Pinot Gris. Gentle ripening allows for bold fruit flavors while preserving a clean, vibrant acidity. Peach, melon and honeysuckle aromas lead you into a palate that is full and lush with ripe stone fruit notes and a clean fresh minerality.

MERCER SHARP SISTERS RED
This red blend is composed primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah giving it ideal balance between bold, juicy fruit and firm, complex structure. The wine opens with notes of blackberry and plum with underlying sweet sage and vanilla flavors. The tannins are sleek but powerful supporting a soft, velvety palate.

MERCER CABERNET SAUVIGNON
this is dark, brooding and complex Cabernet Sauvignon modeled after the Old World style. The nose is rich and welcoming with aromas of blueberries, plumb and dried tobacco. The palate is an ideal mix of power and elegance offering flavors of blackberry, caramel and dried mint. Through it all, sleek tannins and a gentle acidity keep this wine from feeling overly heavy.

MERCER MERLOT
Washington State is ideal growing climate for Merlot where the cool temperatures can reign in this easily ovver-ripened grape. This wine is warm and welcoming offering a nose of ripe cherries and holiday spices. The palate is round and velvety with supple tannins and ripe notes of blackberry and toasted cedar. Both powerful and elegant, this wine is an ideal companion to any holiday meal.
