Friday Wine Tasting 10.27.17

Come try these pre-Halloween sippers:

BANSHEE CHARDONNAY
This Chardonnay greets you with a bright and bold nose of apple, orange blossom and vanilla spice. It is medium-full in body with honey drenched notes of pear and pineapple developing into fresher notes of Meyer lemon and crushed stone in the finish.

PLOWBUSTER PINOT NOIR
Bright candied fruit flavors and vibrant acidity are hallmarks of Oregon Pinot Noir and this wine is true to its roots. Sweet-tart notes of cherry and orange peel soften and deepen as this wine sits, giving you a lush, fruit forward and accommodating experience.

LO-VE GARNACHA
This stellar Spanish Garnacha (Grenache) is powerful yet restrained. It is an inky red in color and offers a classic nose of red fruit and dried lavender. The palate is more fruit forward than in typical in Old World wines and offers loads of jammy red fruit, violets and hints of spice. Lush and silky, this is a versatile wine for every occasion.

ALL OR NOTHING RED BLEND
A blend of Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah, this wine offers dark brooding aromas of black licorice, chocolate, anise and vanilla. The palate is equally rich and complex with notes of dark berry cobbler, mocha and plum leading into to long, velvety finish.

Come out and try:

ALLIMANT LAUGNER CREMANT D’ALSACE ROSE
This sparkling wine is made in the traditional Champagne style, but comes from the far Northern region of Alsace. Delicate, refined and a beautiful pale salmon color, this wine offers a perfumed nose of wild strawberries and white flowers. Medium bodied with a lively crisp acidity, the palate continues the red berry fruit and floral profile, finishing with a fresh minerality.

OREGON TRAILS PINOT NOIR
From one of the accepted best areas for New World Pinot Noir, the Willamette Valley, Oregon, this deep garnet wine offers a bright nose of cherry, cranberry and hints of dark earth. The palate is medium bodied and smooth with fine, but firm structure and ripe flavors of raspberry, strawberry and warm baking spice with a lively, tart finish.

SMITH STORY LORD SANDWICH RED
This multi-vintage blend of Zinfandel, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Carignane, Grenache and Petite Sirah is named for the beloved vineyard dog, Lord Sandwich. It offers rich, appealing fruit on the nose along with warm baking spice notes. The palate is silky and smooth with fine tannins and ripe flavors of blackberry, plum and peppery spice.

KIONA CABERNET-MERLOT
This blend of predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot is sourced from vineyards from throughout Washington State. Deeply colored with excellent balance between acidity, structure and body this wine offers a rich bouquet of dark berries, cedar and bittersweet chocolate.

Friday Wine Tasting 10.13.17

Here’s what we’re pouring this afternoon:

TERRAPURA SAUVIGNON BLANC
Although it is considered part of the New World, Chile makes a Sauvignon Blanc more in kind with Old World Bordeaux than with other New World SB heavyweights, New Zealand and California (this applies too to their Cabernet Sauvignon). Opening with a delicate yet intense nose, this wine offers vibrant tropical fruit flavors, white floral notes and a fresh, clean minerality.

CORRALILLO CHARDONNAY
This wine hails from the Rosario Valley in Chile which has a cool, maritime climate. This is an excellent location for Chardonnay which can become flabby and cumbersome if overly ripened. Allowing the grapes to slowly ripen has preserved a mouth watering acidity and vibrant texture while still delivering robust, tropical fruit and floral notes.

TERRAPURA PINOT NOIR
You may not automatically think of Pinot Noir when it comes to Chilean wines, but the cool climate and plentiful sun can be an ideal environment for this picky, temperamental grape. Sourced from the Aconcagua Valley in central Chile, this wine offers a bold nose of cherries and blueberries. The fruit flavors continue on the soft and silky palate with hints of peppery spice presenting in a long, pleasant finish.

CORRALILLO WINEMAKER’S BLEND
Composed of selected lots of Syrah, Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot this is a vibrant, bright medium bodied blend. The nose offers rich red fruit and hints of bittersweet cocoa. The palate is smooth with round, firm tannins and bold flavors of violets, damp earth and berry jam with notes of toasted oak on the finish.

Friday Wine Tasting 10.6.17

This Friday we’ll be pouring Mercer Estate Wines. The Mercer Family can trace its agricultural roots in the US back to the 1700s. Settling in the Washington State area, the Mercers became the founding wine growers of what is now the acclaimed Horse Heaven Hills AVA. Their love of the land is aparent in their wines, each crafted to show the delicate influence the vineyard can have on the fruit.

MERCER PINOT GRIS
The cool climate of Washington is ideal for growing Pinot Gris. Gentle ripening allows for bold fruit flavors while preserving a clean, vibrant acidity. Peach, melon and honeysuckle aromas lead you into a palate that is full and lush with ripe stone fruit notes and a clean fresh minerality.

MERCER SHARP SISTERS RED
This red blend is composed primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah giving it ideal balance between bold, juicy fruit and firm, complex structure. The wine opens with notes of blackberry and plum with underlying sweet sage and vanilla flavors. The tannins are sleek but powerful supporting a soft, velvety palate.

MERCER CABERNET SAUVIGNON
this is dark, brooding and complex Cabernet Sauvignon modeled after the Old World style. The nose is rich and welcoming with aromas of blueberries, plumb and dried tobacco. The palate is an ideal mix of power and elegance offering flavors of blackberry, caramel and dried mint. Through it all, sleek tannins and a gentle acidity keep this wine from feeling overly heavy.

MERCER MERLOT
Washington State is ideal growing climate for Merlot where the cool temperatures can reign in this easily ovver-ripened grape. This wine is warm and welcoming offering a nose of ripe cherries and holiday spices. The palate is round and velvety with supple tannins and ripe notes of blackberry and toasted cedar. Both powerful and elegant, this wine is an ideal companion to any holiday meal.
