PALOMA ROSE SPUMANTE

This nonvintage Italian Sparkling wine shows a bright sea shell pink color with fine, frothy mousse. It has a nose of sweet cherry and raspberry with hints of vanilla. The palate is light and soft with ripe red fruit and berry notes and a balanced, clean finish.

SOLENA GRANDE CUVEE PINOT NOIR
This vibrant Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is a deep red with a bright fruity nose. Notes of black and purple fruit flavors add richness to the soft palate before giving way to complex notes of bramble, leather and licorice.

RUNQUIST 1448 RED BLEND
Named for the altitude of the Runquist winery, this red is a blend of Petite Sirah, Petit Verdot, Tannat, Barbera, Sangiovese, Tempranillo and more. The wine is deeply colored with a bouquet blue fruits, black raspberry, hazelnut and sweet vanilla. Rich and concentrated fruit flavors blend into a smokey toasted oak background while mature tannins ensure this wine will continue to develop with time.

FAMIGLIA BIANCHI MALBEC
One of the premier producers in Argentina, Famiglia Bianchi truly knows how to make Malbec shine. A deep, brooding purple in color this wine has aromas of ripe plums and cherries with hints of sweet baking spice.The palate is full and soft with dark fruit and rich notes of dark chocolate, coffee and vanilla oak. Round tannins and intense, lingering texture will keep you filling your glass.

Friday Wine Tasting 9.8.17

Today we’re tasting wines from two of California’s powerhouse vineyards. Come by and give them a try!

DELOACH CHARDONNAY
This Russian River Chardonnay was fermented half in French oak and half in stainless steel. This, along with malolactic fermentation, creates a wine that is both rich and lush as well as vibrant and lively. Ripe stone fruit and crisp apple notes are elevated by a bright acidity while notes of lemon curd and brioche fill out the soft, round finish.

DONATI FAMILY VINEYARDS CLARET
This Central Coast red is dubbed “claret” for its use of traditional Bordeaux varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petite Verdot and Malbec. The nose offers aromas of cherry, vanilla and toast. The palate is medium bodied and silky with notes of candied cherry and baking spice. This is a versatile wine with a combination of bright acidity and soft tannins making it an easy food pairing.

DONATI FAMILY VINEYARDS MERLOT
Produced from fruit grown in the Paicines appellation in the Central Valley of California, this wine is blended with small amounts of Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. The aromas of dark cherry and cocoa are mirrored in the lush, full bodied palate. Soft tannins add to the velvety mouth feel and carry into the long, lingering finish.

DONATI FAMILY VINEYARDS EZIO CABERNET SAUVIGNON
This is the vineyard’s flagship wine, named after Ezio Donati, the first Donati to be born in the states. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine offers a bold, rich and almost decadent experience. Dark fruits and rich earth dominate the nose while black cherry, warm spice and aged leather mingle on the complex palate. Lush, full tannins and a moderate acidity linger into the long finish.

JEZEBEL BLANC
This Oregon white is a blend of Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Riesling and Viognier, It has wonderfully vibrant floral and spice aromas. The palate is dominated by tropical fruit flavors and a slight sweetness that is balanced by a crisp acidity. Stainless steel fermentation on the lees adds a creamy texture that adds to the richness and decadence of this wine. Enjoy it by itself or with some spicy Thai food!
SINEANN PIEDRA PINOT NOIR
This is a classic delicate, yet complex Oregon Pinot Noir. It is a bright, light ruby color presenting aromas of bright red berries and a hint of toasted oak. The palate is smooth and balanced with slightly more body than you’d expect, finishing with length, sweet-tart red fruit and cleansing acidity.
SINEANN ABONDANTE
This Columbia Valley red blend of Zinfandel and Bordeaux varietals offers a playful, juicy, fruit forward experience. Raspberry and plum dominate the nose and palate balanced by notes of dried herbs, purple flowers and hints of smoke. Full bodied with soft tannins, this is an easy to enjoy, versatile wine.
CODA CADENCE
This bold Columbia Valley wine is a blend of Bodeaux varietals Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. The nose is bright red fruit, warm wood spice and hints of dried violets. The palate is rich and plush with silky, supply tannins and vibrant, energetic acidity. The berry and spice notes continue on the palate, lingering into the long finish.

RIVAROSÉ BRUT
This beautiful sparkling rosé from Provence, France offers an amiable nose of cherry, raspberry and strawberry. The palate is clean and delicate with a fine, mouth-filling mousse and persistent flavors of red berries and a hint of spice.

A.P. VIN KANZLER VINEYARD PINOT NOIR
A renowned producer of small batch Pinot Noir, A.P. Vin sources this wine exclusively from the Kanzler Vineyard in the Sonoma Coast. Graceful and lively, this bottle offers notes of rich dried red fruits, delicate flowers and damp forest floor. Silky and supple with moderate body and fine tannins, this wine will continue to age gracefully for the next several years.

FREAKSHOW RED
One of acclaimed Michael David Winery’s big hits, this Lodi blend pairs the wild, untamed muscle of Syrah with the refined, polished structure of Petite Sirah. Aromas of baked berry cobble, espresso and roasted nuts rise aggressively from the glass. The palate is full bodied and velvety with rich flavors of jam, toffee, dark chocolate and warm tobacco on the finish. A big, gregarious wine and an excellent value.

MICHAEL DAVID PETITE PETITE
A blend of 85% Petite Sirah and 15% Petit Verdot, offering a joyous explosion of color and fun! It is a substantial, dense, full-bodied, whopper style of wine loaded with pure black fruit and vanilla flavors that coat the palate. It reveals remarkable richness with a finish that is slightly dry and seems to linger.

LA CAPRANERA FIANO
The Fiano grape is thought to be indigenous to Campania, Italy and is known for concentrated fruit and intense aromatics. The clay and chalk soils of the vineyards lend a clean mineral crispness to the wine, enhancing the attractive notes of white flowers, ripe pear and apricot. Chill this down for an excellent and refreshing sunny day wine.

GEORGES DEBOEUF BEAUJOLAIS-VILLAGES
Beaujolais-Villages takes its name from the 38 villages from which it can source its fruit and can be an approachable introduction to the more prestigious Cru Beaujolais. Produced by one of the most recognizable names in Beaujolais, this wine offers bright cherry and blackberry flavors with smooth, easy tannins. Incredibly versatile with food pairings, this wine can be served room temperature or slightly chilled.

DONATELLA CINELLI ROSSO DI MONTALCINO
Rosso di Montalcino is made of 100% Sangiovese (same grape as in Chianti). This deep ruby red wine spends one year in oak barrels imparting plentiful tannins, spice and complexity. Cherry, cranberry and bright pomegranate fruit is bolstered by a bright acidity and dusty lingering finish.

CLOS DE LOS SIETE
Clos de Los Siete is an Argentinian project of acclaimed Bordeaux producer Michel Rolland. Predominantly composed of Malbec, this is an inky, deep, dark and complex wine. The nose is pure and alluring offering fresh, juice fruit notes. The palate is full and fleshy with round tannins, vibrant acidity and generous fruit flavors enhanced by a lingering, dominant profile of baking spice.

BARLOW SAUVIGNON BLANC
This Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc is crisp, clean and complex. The nose is pure fruit and sunshine with aromas of grapefruit, melon, lime zest and mandarin orange. The palate is a pleasant balance of refreshing crispness and round richness. The fruit profile continues on the palate with tropical fruit notes and lemon grass with a flinty minerality leading to cleansing finish.

WATERMILL CABERNET FRANC
Cabernet Franc is an excellent summer red wine. It tends to be leaner and lighter bodied than it’s relative Cabernet Sauvignon, while still providing great fruit and balanced structure. This Oregon example offers an earthy nose of smoke, leather and hints of lavender. The palate is dark and complex with ripe black cherry and plum fruits evolving into a finish of cocoa, spice and espresso.

WATERMILL MERLOT
This Merlot is round, plush and thoroughly satisfying. Thick but gentle tannins are balanced by a lively acidity, keeping the wine feeling decedent but not too heavy. Blackberry and fig preserves create a feeling of warmth and richness, showing a complex evolution into a finish of toasted almonds, dark cherry and cocoa powder.

WATERMILL CHANCES R RED
This is a Bordeaux style blend, meaning it is some makeup of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc. It opens with a bold and friendly nose of dark cherry, vanilla and cloves. The palate is rich and round with smooth tannins and ripe flavors of plum, raspberry and dark chocolate.

MIRAVAL ROSÉ
This pure example of Provence rosé is a delicate pink color with bright red fruit aromas. The palate is clean and refreshing with tart berry flavors and hints of floral and mineral notes. The finish is light and refreshing with ample acidity.

HALL SAUVIGNON BLANC
A powerhouse Napa winery, Hall may be best known for its Cabernet. But don’t discount its Sauvignon Blanc. A gorgeous yellow-green, this wine looks like bottled summer morning sunshine. A bold nose offers lemon zest, green melon and alluring hints of jasmine. The palate continues the tropical fruit profile, adding a sharp edged acidity that is balanced by a creamy softness from time spent on lees. Open this to enjoy with anything from salads to seafood or simply for a chat with a good friend.

MARTIN RAY PINOT NOIR
This wine is an excellent representation of a classic Sonoma Pinot Noir. The nose is rich and intense with notes of black cherry, elderberry and dried rose petals. The palate is lush and juicy with flavors of cherry cola and dark earth undertones. French oak aging adds underlying hints of vanilla and toffee. Delicious and quaffable!

KLINKER BRICK WINERY CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Lodi may be a Central Coast area best known for its Zinfandel, but talented wine makers are now putting out concentrated, balanced examples of Cabernet Sauvignon. After spending over a year in French oak, this wine offers a bold nose of cherry pie and chai tea. The palate is full and lush with layers of complex flavors like cherry, black currant and leather.

LE PROVENÇAL ROSÉ
Summer is a time made from drinking rosé and some of the best rosés come from the Provence region of France. A glorious salmon pink, this Grenache blend smells of white flowers and bright red berries. The palate is light, but soft and round, showing flavors of fresh apples, strawberry candy and a cleansing minerality. Drink this!

ESPORÃO V VERDELHO
This Portuguese grape is most closely associated with Madeira, but can also be used to produce racy, crisp white wines. Opening with a delicate citrus nose, this wine offers bright flavors of melon and stone fruit, ripening as the wine warms.

SAN FELICE CHIANTI CLASSICO
Chianti Classico wines come from a small, specialized area within the greater Chianti region. A vibrant red with a bouquet of red berries, dried violets and dusty earth. The palate is lively and acidic with tart cherry flavors, baking spice and fine, gritty tannins.

DOMAINE DU TAUCH FITOU
A Carignan blend from Fitou in France’s Languedoc-Roussillon region, this dark inky wine is burly and bold while keeping a lively, medium-weight body. The palate is a pleasant melange of juicy, ripe purple fruits and wild berries balanced by earth notes of tobacco and dried herbs.

CMS SAUVIGNON BLANC
Predominantly Sauvignon Blanc with small amounts of Chardonnay and Marsanne added for body and richness, this Columbia Valley wine offers a beautiful tropical fruit profile with a playful and lively texture, clean acidity and a hint of green herbs on the finish.

SCOTT PINOT NOIR
Scott consistently produces rich, elegant Pinot Noir. This wine from the Arroyo Seco region of Monterey County is made from low yield vineyards; a method thought to better express the delicate characteristics and terroir influences that make Pinot Noir such an enchanting and often frustrating grape. Medium bodied with bright acidity, the palate is full of sweet and spicy flavors like cherry pie, ginger, honey, toasted almonds and vanilla.

HEDGES FAMILY ESTATE RED MOUNTAIN
This Washington State red is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot offering dense color, firm tannins and plentiful, bracing acidity. Bright flavors of cherries and currants partner with rich earthy notes of leather, dried herbs and sweet cedar. Drinkable now, this is a wine that will benefit from aging, where its more robust characteristics will soften and evolve.

CATENA MALBEC
Bodega Catena Zapata is one of the most respected wineries in Argentina. Their Catena line of wines are single varietal blends from throughout their top tier vineyards. Showing excellent balance and complexity, this is a wine ready for immediate consumption, yet also fully equipped for decades of aging. This wine is deeply colored with intoxicating aromas of red and purple fruits and a soft, velvety palate with fine tannins. Juicy flavors of blueberries and blackberries mingle with notes of warm spice and leather into a long lingering finish.
